Labiaplasty Majora (Labia Lift) & Labia Majora Reconstruction
Labia Majora Reduction (Labia Lift)
- Labia Lift is a procedure to reduce the size, enhancing the shape or correct the proportional imbalances of the Labia Majora and to correct improper silicone injection.
- Labia Majora or the outer lips of the vagina can be enlarged with excess skin and tissue. It may be enlarged from birth, form wrinkles secondary to childbirth, or due to aging.
- This may cause embarrassment to a woman. Dr. Vitasna uses a technique to reduce their size by removing a crescent shaped portion of each inner labium. The scar is hidden in between the inner and outer labia.
- This is a minor surgery and takes about one and a half hours and is not very uncomfortable. General anesthesia is usually used, but sedation with local anesthesia is possible. The complication rate is extremely low.
- You can probably return to work in 5 days. There is a no risk with loss of sensation or any decline in the ability to have orgasms.
Labia Majora Reconstruction (Post-improper silicone injection)
- Human error such as over injection and improper positioning of the Silicone in the labia majora/labia minora can cause severe disfigurement and a lifetime of emotional pain.
- Unhappy patients come for consultation regarding some of the issues following improper silicone injection. Even with an optimal procedure, complications can still arise due to the opposing natures between Silicone and our bodies.
- Our body is constantly changing. Silicone does not. Because permanent filler, such as Silicone, doesn’t change and age the same way as our normal tissues do, problems can occur at any time, and the results can be disastrous.
- The silicone that was injected can be removed at any time but will require surgical intervention. Removing injected silicone is extremely difficult because these are micro droplets that can be found in all tissue layers where it was injected.
- The only real way to remove some of it is to directly excise the tissue that is involved. Removal of injected silicone from your labia may require careful and precise excision approach. You may also need another surgical procedure to reconstruct the defect at a later time.
